Money is a valuable commodity amongst players in WorldWarcraft and, just like in real life, there are other people just waiting to scam you out of it. Gold sellers, people who want
to sell gold to gold sellers and sometimes
just downright malicious players all want to scam your hard-earned gold. Then the question is, what can you, as a player, do to protect your WorldWarcraft gold?
Never, ever give a copper to anyone. That is, unless you're friends with the person. One major scam is for people to create low-level characters and beg for money in major towns. Five
gold from one person may not sound like much, but five gold from seventy people in town certainly adds up.
Avoid casinos like the plague. While you can make money with a casino, these are one of the biggest things that scammers like to use to steal your gold from you. There are too many people that get scammed by playing a few seemingly-fair games of "Random Number Rolls. " Just like in real life, casinos are a definite no-no if you want to keep your gold piled high.
Don't pay in advance. While things like having characters run through dungeons by a higher level character typically require a payment upfront, it's best to try to not pay upfront. If you do have to pay in advance, do so with something like fifty-percent upfront and fifty-percent after the job is done. If you do have to take a loss, you can at least try to minimize it.
Never invest in a get-rich-quick scheme. So many players in WorldWarcraft lose gold
trying to make more of it, which has to be related to some universal irony. Nonetheless, there is no one who you can simply give gold to and then have them multiply it for you. Like the age-old adage goes, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Similarly, if you want to make gold, you have to make it yourself.
